DUO creates methods, which aren't possible with conventional oil paints, possible, such as hatching with narrow and strong lines and using flow or bleeding, which water properties can give. 1. An oil color that can be diluted with water.
Duo can be diluted with water instead of volatile agents like turpentine. Used brushes can be washed with water. At an atelier or a classroom with little ventilation, you can paint oil paintings in a clean environment. It is recommended for people who are sensitive to the smell of solvents.
2. Various expressions are possible.
Diluted Duo is a kind of mixed tempera. It has properties which both oil and water colors possess. Using unique water properties, such as bleeding and surface tension peculiar for painting thin paint evenly, as well as hatching for drawing sharp and strong long lines, which never were possible using oil color. It is basically oil paint, therefore it becomes solid and dissolves in neither water nor oil after drying.

By overall review of the colors and prescription, Duo was renewed largely in June, 2008. The new pigments were introduced to all 100 colors, including new mineral-based colors, such as cadmium and cobalt. Duo is recommended as genuine paint to artists who use many colors.
